As parents, we are the main disciple makers of our children, and it is our calling to help them reach maturity in Christ. But where do we begin? What does this look like practically in our homes? How do we help them navigate technology and sexuality?
We are putting on a morning of fellowship for families, with time for parents to connect, learn and ask questions.
We haven't forgotten about your children either, they will have a special program put on by the City Kids Team.
So come as you are, and be encouraged in your calling as parents.
$20 for two parents and any children attending
$10 for one parent and any children attending
This registration cost covers morning tea and lunch.
See what our 3 Speakers will be covering in their sessions:
Jane Hickey - Parenting our children in neuroaffirming ways
This presentation offers a guide to neuroaffirming parenting in a way that honours God, blending Jane’s professional expertise in disability advocacy and education with personal insights as a mother of neurodivergent children. It defines neurodiversity as a natural variation in the way that God has made us, in human thinking and behaviour, encouraging parents to view challenging actions in our children as meaningful communication or stress responses rather than simple defiance. The presentation highlights the importance of sensory processing and self-regulation, explaining how
"stimming" and environmental adjustments help children manage their internal states. Practical strategies are provided and Jane advocates for a strengths-based approach that values all communication methods and fosters an inclusive, supportive home environment.
Matt Keller - Parenting Children in the Faith
Perhaps you've heard the statement "Parents are the primary disciple makers of their children". Your reaction may well be "Help!" The first session is designed to cover the Who, What, & Why, with the second session sending time on How to build habits in the home.
Dave Chiswell - Discipling Digital Natives
Technology moves fast. Which means the goalposts on parenting do too. In the brave new world of algorithms, social media bans and AI slop: How do Christians understand the current landscape? How do we make informed decisions about how much is too much, without resorting to tin-foil hats?
How do we love, support and protect our kids in this ever-evolving world of online engagement? Come and join the conversation as we consider the cultural factors, share our own experiences, and develop some practical strategies together.
